An ideal Yew for southern landscapes, the Fastigiata tolerates both heat and humidity, unlike other yews. It is very slow-growing and prefers some part shade. Showy fruit on female plants provide some winter interest. Drought and heat tolerant once established.

Duke Gardens Plum Yew is a slow-growing, spreading, evergreen shrub. It has soft, glossy, dark green (almost back-green) foliage. Performs wonderfully in a shade garden or in woodland conditions. It is drought tolerant once established. This plant is also deer-resistant. Will tolerate many soil conditions, so long as it is well drained. First discovered in Duke Gardens in 1958.
